Sometimes you want your dance to make you feel like you're flying. Sometimes you need it to make you feel closer to the earth, more comfortable with the ground. Sometimes you want it to make you feel sure you can kick actual ass.
Sometimes you need it to challenge you mentally. Sometimes you need it to make you feel honest, to find yourself and your current sentiment.
Sometimes you have a certain story you need to tell, or a description or archetype you need to flesh out, embellish; sometimes your music has a story it needs to tell, through you.
Sometimes you are compelled to do healing work, process work, ritual or prayer through your dance. That may be for yourself or loved ones, moving outward through your circle of connection to global, universal work on the spiritual level.

What: A couple of dance workshops in Portland Oregon; a summertime offering in the hope of dancing with my NW fellows and offering some guidance and groove
When: JUNE 1 and 8, 2013, 12:30-2:30pm
Where: Swing Yogi Studios

How Much: $25 each or $45 for both, paid in advance or at first workshop
Why: Because you will work out, fine tune your dance, get some new moves, listen to fabulous music, and have lots of fun. A great investment.
Who: Dancers encouraged to have some dance training, but if you dare, come try!
Other bene's: As a yoga teacher, corrective exercise specialist, and massage therapist, I try to include some therapeutic movement concepts in my dance workshops to help alleviate the nuisance of dancer injuries.

THE LIONESS ~ Predatory Precision and Grace:
Drills, moves, combos to help you build control and fluidity from several different approaches. Turns and quick stops, articulate hip and torso expressions, iconic arms, developing focus with breath, intensity with staging, and depth with layers. Above all, you will dance and have fun!
Saturday June 8th:
L'ANDROGYNE ~ Animus Play
The ironic femininity of masculine dance accents. From Fosse, to Debke, Flamenco to Zebekiko, Persian to Latin, explore masculine elements to add strength and theatricality to your dance dynamic and complete your archetype. Bring a fedora or hat of some kind. Male students welcome.
